A bigger picture of what takes place during transformational learning sessions in our AYLF Weekly Small Group Gatherings at different University campuses. As shared by the AYLF INES small group on the 21st January 2026 among many others, gathered for a weekly transformational learning session - TLS which was composed of two main parts. Before the session began, members shared how their week had gone and reflected on how they had treated their “Angels of the Week.” - (Your Angel of the week is a person who select you from the group and then gives you a special time and treatment without you knowing that he/she is your Angel and then reveal it later … just to build unforgettable memories and get to know each other deeper and better and strengthen your friendship for a long-hole)
In the first part of the meeting, our small group coordinator explained the meaning of a small group, how to build a strong and effective one, and its overall purpose, with reference to insights gained from the recent coordinators’ retreat.
In the second part, we separated into our respective small groups, which we call palaces, to discuss the topic: “What can I do as a servant leader to serve at my very best level?” After the discussion, we joined again to share the outcomes. Some of the key points highlighted included: first being a leader to oneself before leading others, serving as a role model, paying attention to the needs of those we serve, and upholding core values such as integrity and honesty, among others.
To conclude the session, we selected the “Angels of the Week” to encourage members to know one another better. We also welcomed our new members and received greetings from our former coordinator, sent via a WhatsApp message. Finally, we took photos together and shared a meal.
